About the Home

This young family purchased their home with plans to adapt the home’s interior to match the mid-century modern style of the exterior. Dark and confined, the tiny kitchen and dining area had a bad design to begin with. It was also outdated, right down to the appliances. Our designer got to work reconfiguring the space and working with the client to bring their specific vision to life.

We were able to add space to the kitchen by removing a redundant sliding
glass door and replacing it with a window that stretched almost floor-to ceiling, preserving the light the previous door afforded. Once the design was approved and the project began construction, our client wanted to go one step farther and create an open ceiling in addition to the planned skylight. Our designer and carpenters worked to determine the feasibility, make the revisions (including re-routing the oven venting), and created a beautiful, open space. With the added storage space provided by the right
cabinet selection, a pantry and desk area were converted to a gorgeous serving buffet with additional storage and a mini-fridge.
